Volunteering with a difference

CVTB is a different way of volunteering. Giving and receiving (reciprocity), equality and co-production are at the heart of the CVTB. CVTB members co-produce (design and deliver) services for older people and deliver them alongside Age UK Bromley & Greenwich staff.

CVTB cogs

For every 1 hour given = you earn 1 time credit. Everyone's hour is equal.

How it works

Giving > receiving

You accompanying an older person to an hospital appointment.  For this you receive 1 time credit.

Receiving > giving

You can then spend this time credit on something you want or need. You may want to brush up your holiday French and we match you with a CVTB member who can teach you how to order that wonderful cup of coffee and croissant! You give them 1 time credit. They receive 1 time credit and can access something they need or want from the menu of over 90 skills available within the CVTB.

Earn your time credits by offering occassional shopping, companionship, IT help, gardening, transport to an appointment, working in our Active Age Centre or Day Centre, simple DIY or helping with our other services.

Use your time credits to receive something you need or want - choose from over 90 skills available or come to one of the interest groups - art, craft, poetry, local history or flower arranging.

Donate your time credits if you do not wish to access a skill for yourself you can donate them to a friend or family member or to the Age UK Bromley & Greenwich CVTB Big Pot.

The Big What?

The Big Pot, a way to make a difference to the lives of older people in the wider Bromley and Greenwich community. Hours donated to the Big Pot mean the CVTB can offer help to older people who are not CVTB members.
