Little Hats all over the Office!

A HUGE thank you to all the Bromley & Greenwich crafters who picked up the needles and hooks to try and help us hit our target.

Age UK Bromley & Greenwich has been knitting, purling and crocheting like never before over the past few months and thanks to the wonderful knitters of Bromley and Greenwich, we very nearly hit our target of 8,544!

There were little hats arriving at our office right up until the final minutes of our deadline yesterday, and much like a polling day we were counting late!  Our final count was for 7,592 little hats - a superb effort from everyone and a massive thank you to everyone who made even just one little hat.

The miniature hats will now make their way to stores across the country and be paired with innocent smoothie bottles. For each be-hatted drink sold*, Age UK receives 25p - which means Age UK Bromley & Greenwich will receive £1,898 as a direct result of your effort.  Every penny of this will be put to use helping people love later life and supporting some of the more vunerable people in our communities.

The money raised will make a big difference to the lives of older people by helping to fund Age UK Bromley and Greenwich’s services and classes. These services, which include Clip-It, Men in Sheds, Information and Advice, Befriending Hubs and IT classes, give local older people the chance to come along and make friends, learn new skills and most importantly have fun.

We will be starting our next campaign in a couple of months with a new target (set by Age UK National), so if you enjoy making little hats, or have just learnt and want to keep your skills upto date; keep your needles and hooks handy, keep making little hats and watch this space!
