Volunteer with older people

Help change the experience of getting older by giving your time and skills to make life better for older people.

Volunteers are essential to everything we do at Age UK. Our volunteers help us change loneliness into connection, worries into answers and even old clothes into much-needed funds that keep our services running. Find your perfect volunteering role below.

Age UK is unable to accept volunteers who live outside the UK and is unable to sponsor visa applications. Thank you for your interest in supporting our work - take a look at other ways to get involved

Our volunteering roles - make a difference for older people

Become a telephone friend

Just 30 minutes of your time a week could make a massive difference to an older person's life. If you're empathetic and good at talking on the phone, you could be a Telephone Friendship Service volunteer.

The Silver Line Helpline

Can you empathise and listen to older people, be warm and friendly providing time-sensitive information, and commit to at least 2 hours a week for at least a year? If so, you could play an important role as a volunteer on our Silver Line Helpline.

Connect and Support Service

Can you help offer support over the phone to an older person to help them gain access to services and activities that could benefit them? If you can empower older people in this way, volunteering for our Connect and Support Service might be for you.

Join an Age UK shop

Could you help customers in our high street shops while raising funds for our vital services?

Volunteer with your local Age UK

Support your local Age UK with delivering services for older people.
