Become A Home Help
Do you like cleaning?
Are you reliable? Do you like older people?
We are always looking for home assistants for our Help at Home service. Hourly rates of pay vary from £10-£14 depending on the area worked.
We especially need home helps in the Worthing, Littlehampton, Bognor Regis, Chichester & Selsey, Crawley, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill areas.
Why be a Home Help with Age UK West Sussex?
Our home assistants love working independently (and setting their own hours) but also appreciate the support and back up of working with Age UK West Sussex. They don't have to look for clients and they get paid at the end of each job by the client directly. Marilyn says
"For me, it's not 'whistle while you work', it's talk and listen while you work. I love hearing my customers' stories and getting to know them. Of course I feel like I'm really making a difference in all their lives! It's lovely to be appreciated as well. I like the fact that we are encouraged to keep an eye out for our customers and go that extra mile."
About the Help at Home job
Our Help at Home service provides domestic support that enables people to remain independent in their own homes for longer. As a Home Assistant you'll need to enjoy general cleaning but you may also be asked to:
- Wash floors (kitchen and bathroom)
- Vacuum
- Dust and polish
- Do the laundry and ironing
- Change bedding
- Change curtains and nets
- Clean inside cupboards
- Wash up
- Go on shopping trips (either with the customer or on their behalf) and collect prescriptions
- Do basic food preparation (if qualified with food hygiene)
As a service we do not provide personal care and cannot administer medications.
The role is self employed, so you are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance.
We offer you on-going support and will work with your available hours, Mondays to Fridays. Being a home assistant can be a very rewarding role and we look to recruit people who are professional, reliable and willing to work in accordance with our policies and procedures. You'll need to have a DBS check.
We welcome experience of working with older people and knowledge of the issues that they may experience. We don't mind whether it comes from your personal life or previous jobs - both can be equally valid.
