Our volunteering roles

  • Befriending

Last year, our incredible Be-a-Friend and Befriending Plus volunteers gave 11,563 hours of their time to support vulnerable older people in the borough. The premise is simple - each volunteer is matched with a local older person to meet weekly at the older person's house for a cup of tea and a chat. Your support can help an older person to regain their confidence and reduce feelings of loneliness, and you'll make a friend for life!

  • Office Support

We're looking for organised, friendly and professional volunteers to join our amazing team of staff and volunteers in our office on Old York Road. You'll be working first hand with older people who drop into our office for advice on money, care and housing. Whether you're answering the phones, carrying out admin tasks, or performing benefits checks under the supervision of our staff, it's a fantastic way to give back to your community.

  • Digital Inclusion Programme

Help us tackle digital exclusion in this rewarding volunteer role by supporting older people to use their devices at our friendly drop in digital inclusion sessions. From helping someone to make their very first Zoom call, supporting them to write their life story on Microsoft Word or helping them book an appointment online, it's a unique way to use your skills to give back.
