Service - Memory Loss Advice Service

Salary - £26,599 per annum (£29,093 per annum pro-rata)

Hours - 32hrs p/wk,                                     

Status - Permanent

Work Pattern - Monday to Friday          

Location - Urmston, Trafford, Greater Manchester

About The Role

We are offering a great opportunity to join our professional, creative and dedicated team as a Memory Loss Advisor, providing personalised pre-and-post diagnostic support to people diagnosed with memory loss and their carers.

As a Memory Loss Advisor, you will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support, information, and guidance to people with dementia and their carers, with a central focus on:

  • Helping to better understand their condition, including the potential symptoms and behaviours and of the impacts on their life and family.
  • The development of practical strategies and methods to help people live well with dementia and remain in their own home and community for a long as is safely possible.

The service is unique to each service user as it is based upon their personal circumstances and support needs. You will offer support in a variety of ways - by phone, letter, email, face-to-face, or at other locations in the community. You will also assist service users to access other services, providing signposting and referrals.

About you

  • Understanding of the needs of people living with dementia and their carers would be an advantage, but if you have had experience supporting with other diagnosis or support requirements this would be taken into consideration.
  • Ability and interest in supporting people to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being, and help them take more control of their lives.
  • Able to research, network effectively and collaborate with other professionals to achieve a positive outcome for people.
  • Experience with communicating with a wide range of people, adapting your approach to ensure connection and understanding at all levels.
  • Good IT skills, experience working with databases and virtual meeting software (Microsoft Teams / Zoom).
