On Monday, we were delighted to welcome Jeff and Bob (President) from The Lions Club at our head office in Mount Gould where we were presented a cheque for £1,000. Their incredibly generous financial gift will make a significant impact towards our mission to improve the lives of over 50’s, individuals living with dementia and their carers in Plymouth. The work and services that we carry out within the community would not be able to exist without the kind donations from organisations and groups like The Lions Club, and we are grateful to receive their ongoing support.
“The Lions Club of Plymouth has during the last 60 years financially assisted countless individuals, charities, businesses and organisations located within its local community.
Age UK Plymouth is the leading charity in the City of Plymouth which exists to care and support the over 50s, those living with dementia and carers to improve their quality of life through the promotion of choice, opportunity and independence.
With this in mind, the club members thought it fitting and appropriate to fundraise and make this financial donation, during its 60th anniversary celebrations, to enable this well-established local charity support those it strives to help.”
Jeffrey Horgan, The Lions Club of Plymouth.
We were lucky enough to be invited to The Lions Club's 60-year anniversary meal back in April, where our Head of Operations, Mike Hardie attended to reflect on just how much of an impact the support we receive from our donors, sponsors and volunteers have on enabling us to be here supporting our community and making Plymouth a place where people love later life.
"The Lions Club of Plymouth's generosity is only matched by their hospitality during their 60th anniversary celebration. An organisation that has stood the test of time for over 60 years and worked so hard to provide support for so many good causes is a true testament to the people within it and who support them. Their desire to make Plymouth a better place for all is commendable and something that charities like Age UK Plymouth require in order to continue the vital support we offer to the people of Plymouth."
Mike Hardie, Head of Operations (Age UK Plymouth).
