At Age UK Plymouth, we are excited to share that we have been selected to receive support from Co-op's Local Community Fund. This vital funding will go towards sustaining and to grow the numbers of clients attending our Forget Me Nots group which is designed for those in the early stages of dementia providing a day full of meaningful and stimulating activities.
In 2022, we launched "Forget Me Nots" weekly sessions designed for those living with mild dementia. Designed for those in the early stages of dementia the group provides a day of meaningful activities, proven to help maintain memory & mental functioning, including the delivery of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy. This fun group work together with qualified, experienced care workers & enjoy a nutritious, home-cooked lunch. Funding will support the offering of more, varied activities in which to enjoy, such as; baking, exercise, virtual aquarium tours & more. We want to support & include their often forgotten about carers, by inviting them to join in once a month, providing an opportunity for them to build relationships with other carers of people with dementia.
Our Forget Me Nots group is open to anyone who feels like they might benefit from some extra support. Whether they're experiencing memory loss or simply looking for a friendly, understanding space where you do not need a diagnosis to join, we are here to provide support at any stage.
From now until October 18th 2025, Co-op members can support our Forget Me Nots, where the funds will enable us to expand our group and reach more people who could benefit from our support.
If you're a Co-op member, you can directly support our our Forget Me Nots by shopping and selecting Age UK Plymouth as your chosen cause on the Co-op app, and everytime you shop, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to us. Whether its through creative activities or a meaningful conversation, Your selection can help us make sure no one in Plymouth faces memory loss alone.
Here is a short video explaining how to select your chosen cause via the Co-op app.
