A recent trip for Age UK Plymouth’s Veterans group was made even more poignant following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II when they were able to lay a wreath on behalf of the charity in memory to the former Head of the Armed Forces and Commander-in-Chief.
The trip was arranged by Veteran Project Lead, Michael Truelove, a serving member of the Royal Marines for over 25 years. All travel was funded by Age UK Plymouth’s Veterans Project which was launched earlier this year with support from the Armed Forces Covenant Trust. The group travelled up on Wednesday 14th September and stayed overnight near to the National Memorial Arboretum in Burton-on-Trent.
The timing of the trip made the visit all the more moving and the group were able to take a moment to reflect on the Queen’s many years of service as well as those formally and currently serving in the Armed Forces.
