Home Visiting Befriending Volunteer
The Home Visitor Befriender role offers a lifeline to older individuals who may be experiencing social isolation and loneliness. Through regular, friendly home visits, you will help rebuild confidence and provide much-needed companionship.
This is a flexible role, allowing you to choose your level of involvement. Visits are typically weekly or fortnightly, as agreed with the client. Regularity and reliability are crucial to build trust and provide consistent support.
Main Duties:
- Visiting older people in their homes
- Providing companionship and conversation tailored to the interests of the person
- Promote positive thinking and encouraging confidence building
- Reporting any issues, concerns or changes to the Befriending Manager
Training & supervision:
Full training and support will be provided in addition to an induction and Health and Safety training. You will also have a line manager who you can report to when needed.
Personal Qualities and Experience:
- Friendly, approachable and empathetic
- Reliable, honest and trustworthy
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Enjoy meeting and talking to new people
- Understanding of older people’s needs and a genuine desire to support them
- A good sense of humour is always appreciated!
