Befriending Volunteer
It's a terrible thing to be lonely. Did you know that 1.2 million older people are chronically lonely? You can do something to help by becoming a befriender with Age UK Barnet.
What does the role involve?
You'll be get matched with an older person in the community who you will visit on a regular basis to provide companionship.
What you will get out of it

What is expected of me?
Befriending volunteers are expected to visit their Befriendee regularly. This usually involves a commitment of around 1 to 2 hours a week, over a long period of time( minimum commitment is 6-12 months.) Volunteers will also need to attend a training session and undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Minimum age is 18 years.
