Lorraine Barnet - Chair

Lorraine Barnet Our Chair spent over 35 years in the commercial world before joining the board of AUKB.
Lorraine brings a wealth of experience in client, people and operations management.
Lorraine spends the majority of her time with the CEO and trustees overseeing the successful operation of the charity.
She is also particularly focussed on community engagement, helping to spread the word about the great work we do, and engaging with local businesses and people to raise awareness and vital funds.

Ruth Newrick

Ruth became an AUKB trustee in March 2021 after several years volunteering for the charity and seeing its critical impact. Currently the Deputy Director for Transformation at a large central government department, she has worked for many years in government delivering complex organisational change. Ruth is professionally qualified in project and programme management, including change, risk management, governance and reporting, and is a Chartered Member of CIPD. She balances her trustee and busy work responsibilities with attending and volunteering at her local Buddhist centre, rather slow jogging, and doing cryptic crosswords.

John Tacchi

Although hailing from a medical family, John read Law at Cambridge and qualified as a barrister. He worked in investment banking and various UK financial services companies before setting up a merchant banking partnership advising UK companies on mergers and acquisitions, corporate and business strategy and board appointments and procedure.

A personal experience of the NHS when a cancer patient led him to re-evaluate his priorities in life and he joined the NHS Executive Fast Track Programme in 2014. He has now spent time working with GPs, acute trusts, mental health trusts and community trusts at executive level as well as working on Integrated Care System creation. He brings a deeply held personal conviction to his work in the NHS. He first became involved with Age UK Barnet as a volunteer, providing digital inclusion sessions before the COVID pandemic. He continues this work and was very honoured to be asked to become a trustee of the charity in whose mission he has a deep-seated belief.

Alexis Ingram

Barnet GP Alexis Ingram has been a trustee since 2022 having got to know the organisation through working with AUKB to set up and run Social Prescribing for the borough of Barnet.
She was drawn to join AUKB’s board by the organisation’s ability to provide both large and small scale projects for the local community in a way that is professional, but with a family feel.
She brings with her knowledge of healthcare delivery along with experience of operational and strategic leadership.

Rachel Hanger

Rachel is a chartered accountant with over 30 years experience in the Financial Services sector both within industry and the accountancy professional services firms.
After retiring from KPMG Rachel has recently joined Age UK Barnet as a trustee after being impressed by the range of services and commitment of the team to the over 55 local community. She hopes her financial and business acumen will be positive for the charity.
