Salary:           Full Time Equivalent £31,500

Hours:           21hrs (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday)

Term:             Fixed until 31/03/25

Age UK Lancashire is excited to be recruiting two Mental Health Practitioners as we launch our brand-new Mental Health Support Service for Older Adults in East Lancashire.

“Are you looking for a role that is rewarding and challenging, where you have the potential to improve the lives of vulnerable people in Lancashire?”

If so, we now have the role for you! We are recruiting a Senior Mental Health Practitioner who will be based at our office in Padiham with travel to community-based venues in Burnley, Pendle and surrounding areas. Mileage will be paid.

Age UK Lancashire has seen a rise in older people living with mental health conditions accessing our services. We want to ensure that older people can access local, community-based support to help them manage their conditions as independently as possible, and therefore support the local MH support pathways. This role will suit an experienced and confident Practitioner with in-depth subject knowledge with a passion for developing opportunities for others.

We work closely with health and social care professionals and a range of other agencies to encourage clients to access services that will improve their outcomes.

The successful applicant should have:

  • In depth knowledge of Mental Health conditions
  • Professional qualification/registration
  • Experience of applying effective and appropriate interventions to support and promote recovery.
  • Demonstrable experience working with people with mental health needs in Community Care, and group settings.
  • Knowledge of and able to apply a person-centred approach, promoting independence.
  • Proven ability to manage clinical risk, in the role context.
  • Effective communication skills, across a wide range of people and audiences.
  • Able to manage a busy workload, and effective assessment skills.
  • Experienced and confident in delivering training
  • A full driving licence, appropriate Insurance cover and a suitable car for use in your role.

The successful candidates will work 21 hours on Wednesdays, Friday’s and one other day (TBC likely to be Thurs), between the times of 9am – 5pm. The successful candidate will work alongside another MH Practitioner when delivering group sessions.

This is a hugely rewarding role for the right person. If you are passionate about making a difference, are caring and have empathy towards others, then we would love to hear from you. On your application form, tell us about your relevant skills, experience, attributes, and abilities.

The nature of the post will require travel across the area. A full driving licence, appropriate insurance cover and use of a car are essential.

DBS: This post is eligible for an enhanced DBS check and all the associated costs will be met by the employee.

Closing Date:               12th May 2024

Interviews :                  17th May 2024
