Social Handling
Age UK York has teamed up with York Archaeology to offer a series of Social Handling sessions at the Barley Hall. These will offer a safe and welcoming environment for older people to come together to explore local and world history. During the sessions participants will be able to handle historical artifacts and replicas. A local expert will explain the significance of the objects and foster discussion through the stories or time period each object represents.
Each session will focus on a particular theme or time and will create an interactive and stimulating experience for people with an interest in history.
Sessions will run on the first Wednesday of each month starting in September. Each sessions will run between 2 and 3pm. They will be held in the beautiful surroundings of the Barley Hall.
Bookings can be made online at https://yat.digitickets.co.uk/tickets (click Event Tickets) or by phone on 01904 615505. There is a charge of £3 per person for each session. Bookings can also be made through Age UK York’s First Call service on 01904 634061
NB The Barley Hall does have a staircase and cannot provide full access for people with limited mobility.
