Jubilee Celebrations

We were lucky to be involved in helping organise a Jubilee party at Morrisons in Foss Islands with Wendy Davis and Sam Pritchard the store community champions. Morrisons have been supporting our Home from Hospital team and last week we held a Jubilee Street party with support from Morrisons and a donation from Age UK York. The event was held in collaboration with Community Bees and Home Instead.
25 of our clients attended with amazing support from members of staff and carers.
There was music, some dancing, Royal Bingo, tombola, lots of chatting and wonderful food.
Bev Ward, our Home from Hospital manager said:
"The chatter between everyone, getting to know each other and sharing memories of past street celebrations was lovely to be a part of - for all of us, the atmosphere was just great .
We even had one of our ladies coming up to the front and singing for us -beautiful ,and she was so thrilled to be given the chance to do so.
Of course we all sang God Save The Queen before we left to go home again too.
My highlight was, as I took two of the ladies home, both said it was their only time out all week and it was their only chance to join in and feel part of all the celebrations - from the very start this was exactly who we hoped would come as celebrate and they did !They really couldn't thank everyone enough.
I have visited or called a few of our HFH people this week and they are talking about the party with such enthusiasm and happiness
Thank you to all the people who helped organise the event."
