Join us at one of the free Slipper Social events in York

Published on 24 April 2025 11:00 AM

Your invitation to join one of the new slipper social events here in York alongside City of York Council and other local partners.

Introducing our first two dates with more to follow.

Age UK York is working together with City of York Council and fellow local partners to run new local 'Slipper Social' events here in York in our efforts to help address the risk of trips and fall.

Incredibly the simple step of a well fitting pair of slippers can reduce the risk of older people falling by 60%. Together we are delighted to be able to make this a reality and offer free replacement slippers at a series of events as well as sharing some information and advice all whilst enjoying a drink and a chat.

Our current dates for your diary are:

  • Monday 28 April, 10am - 12 noon at Marjorie Waite Court
  • Wednesday 7 May, 1.30 - 3.30pm at Acomb Methodist Church

Age UK York's Bev (Ward) explained the reasons behind this and the efforts of our local charity and City of York Council in working to help address the risk and impact of trips and falls.

Please do spread the word and join us if you are able. The first dates are set with more to follow. A huge thank you to all involved in making these possible and the help we look to offer in supporting a life of independence and quality as we age.
