At Home Assistant (Self-Employed and Zero Contract Available)

Hours of work: Full Time / Part Time

Reporting to: At Home Co-ordinator

Location: Herefordshire, Worcestershire & Malvern Hills

Overview

Our ‘At Home’ services support older people to maintain their independence and overall wellbeing. Our compassionate team assists with a wide range of support, including housework, accompanying to appointments and other associated tasks to ensure that our clients can live comfortably in their own homes. Our At Home assistants are also trained to provide emotional support and companionship for people who might be feeling isolated or lonely. We encourage meaningful conversations, shared activities and recreational outings, fostering a sense of connection and belonging. The role is wide-ranging and no two days will look the same. Our service delivers support that helps to meet the varying needs of older people so flexibility is essential.

The list of potential duties includes: 

  • Shopping 
  • General housework including 
  • Cleaning including fridges, freezers and ovens 
  • Sorting and tidying 
  • Laundry and ironing 
  • Helping to change beds 
  • Companionship 
  • Light gardening 
  • Taking clients to appointments or social events 
  • Preparing light meals 
  • Writing and reading letters 
  • Reading books, newspapers 
  • Having a cup of tea and a chat

At Home Services Coordinator

Hours of work: Full Time / Part Time

Reporting to: Services Development Manager

Hourly rate: £13.36

Location: Worcestershire, Malvern Hills & Herefordshire

Overview

Gardener (Self-Employed and Zero Contract Available)

Overview

To deliver a high-quality gardening service for older people across Worcester, Malvern & Hereford. The service is designed to help older people look after their gardens by providing a practical service which enables them to maintain a safe environment and support to retain their independence. Our gardeners are reliable and trustworthy and generally work alone, using their own initiative to provide the kind of service that suits the client. 

Tasks which are included in the gardening service are:

  • mowing lawns
  • cutting the hedges
  • cutting back shrubs
  • painting sheds/fence’s
  • general garden maintenance service that takes the worry out of keeping a garden tidy for our clients

Befriending Coordinator

Hours of work: Full Time / Part Time

Reporting to: Service Lead

Hourly rate: £13.36

Location: Worcester, Malvern Hills & Herefordshire

Overview

For Age UK Worcester, Malvern & Herefordshire Localities, the Befriending Service is one of its most important services tackling loneliness and isolation for older people in our community. This role would suit anyone who would like to play a key part in further developing a well-established service that makes a real difference to its community. Excellent people skills, a strong initiative, and effective communications are required for this role, including an ability to build relationships with clients and volunteers, and undertake matching in an astute and sensitive manner. While supported by the Service Lead, the ideal candidate for this position will be self-motivated and enjoy a certain amount of autonomy. The role will demand a division of time between the office, and out in the community completing home assessments and matching visits. The position will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check and references.
