Service continuing vital mission

We are delighted to announce that the Dementia Wellbeing Service (DWS) will be delivered by the new team at Age UK Wyvern. 

It will continue its vital mission of providing person-centred care and support to individuals with dementia and their carers. 

The service remains committed to empowering people living with dementia by promoting their independance, dignity and quality of life through a range of tailored services. From emotional and practical support, provided by dedicated Dementia Wellbeing Support Advisors, to Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST), designed to slow cognitive decline, the DWS offers a robust suite of services that focus on building meaningful connections and enhancing well-being. 

Additonally, the team will continue to facilitate dementia cafes, one-to-one support for young-onset dementia (YOD) and monthly group outings to local destinations - all geared towards enriching the lives of those affected by dementia.

At the heart of the service is its focus on community, with regular Dementia Cafe drop-ins across Worcestershire. Providing a warm, inclusive space for individuals and their families to engage in social activities and access practical support. 

Monthly group outings, personalised one-to-one sessions and the Dementia Egagement and Empowerment Project (DEEP) group are just some of the ways the DWS ensures people with dementia remain active participants in their communities. 

With Age UK Wyvern now at the helm, the DWS continues to be a trusted companion for individuals from the point of diagnosis through their dementia journey, helping them thrive and enjoy life to the fullest. 

The DWS team office in Worcester is a thriving hub of activitiy and the staff are already very much integrated into the wider Age UK Wyvern team.
