Could you help by giving back your free time to change an older person’s life?
This Student Volunteering Week, we are calling for students across Worcestershire to come and get involved with our charity and help us provide our crucial support services and activities to the older people of Worcester & Malvern Hills.
Age UK Worcester & Malvern Hills relies on the support of its volunteers from across Worcestershire. Without the selfless acts of these general public volunteers, we would not be able to operate in the way we do today. Our volunteers not only help provide crucial funding for the charity, but also work directly with a lot of our clients to provide lifelines through our services and social activities.
Volunteering does not have to be a chore. It can be an avenue for people to explore their interests, extend their skillset, give back to their local community and achieve a sense of purpose. It is also a great way for students and other young people to get experience of the workplace and grow their confidence.
What are the benefits of volunteering with us? We will happily reimburse you for reasonable travel costs that you may incur for carrying out the role, we will provide ongoing support and training where relevant, and you will become a part of our wider volunteer network where you will be invited to group events. We offer a great range of voluntary roles and with an ever-growing client base, we are always on the lookout for volunteers.
Clare Thomas, CEO of Age UK Worcester & Malvern Hills, says,
“Our volunteers are hugely important in the day-to-day operation of the charity. Without them, we simply would not be able to run many of the services and activities that we do today. We have had several student volunteers that have selflessly given their time to support our clients and they have all profited from the experience. Volunteering does not have to be a major commitment, even just a couple of hours a week is enough to make a difference.”
You can easily apply to become a volunteer of ours in-store, by phone or online. We require a short application form to be completed, along with two references, in order to be accepted.
