Enjoy Seated Dance with us
Age UK Worcester & District is combining forces with Fiona Petts Dance to provide Worcester with a new seated dance class; named EnJOY Dance. The class will combine exercise, creativity and most importantly fun; allowing over 50s to strengthen their joints and muscles to help them maintain their mobility.
But this is just the beginning, the class also gives dancers; experienced or complete beginners; an exciting opportunity to brush up on their skills, or learn some new ones! With a key part of the class allowing members to develop their coordination and musicality to grow confidence to unlock their creativity.
You will explore dance styles from Swing to Latin and step back in time as we listen and move to those good ol’ favorite songs; combining classics with the modern twist of seated dance! Although dancing may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there is never a better time to step out of your comfort zone.
Clare Thomas, CEO of Age UK Worcester & District, said:
“We recognize how important it is for over 50s in Worcester to get out and about and keep themselves active; which is one reason why we provide our current range of activities throughout Worcester. Our recent research also suggested that one of the most asked for activities was exercise, so it was an easy decision to add this to our ever growing activity list. Seated dance is a great option because it appeals to so many people on so many levels. Whether you are active or not; a beginner or experienced dancer; single or a couple; it is a great way to meet new people and most importantly improve your health”.
“Our dance instructor, Fiona, has been great. She has already visited some of our social clubs and led a few classes with them, as part of their weekly programs, which went down extremely well with the members. She is so full of energy and passion and we can’t wait to have her leading our classes”.
The classes will run every Wednesday from 10:15am to 11:30am and will begin from Wednesday 8th May. They will be held at Age UK Worcester & District’s Offices at Bank House, 7 Shaw Street, Worcester, WR1 3QQ. Your first class is completely free and subsequent classes are charged at £2 per week. Limited spaces are available so booking is essential.
