When two volunteers collide

Tea and Talk at Storer Court

In partnership with Platform Housing, we recently held a tea and talk event at Storer Court, Malvern, hosting various guests for a delicious cream tea and a chat. Here we had the pleasure to meet an old volunteer of ours. She is a wonderful lady who was filled with many a story of when she used to volunteer her free time at our Great Malvern charity shop. Regretfully, she had to stop volunteering but does not regret a single moment of her years with us. In fact she wishes she could do it all again!

She said, "There are so many benefits to volunteering that you just do not realise. It gave me a purpose and a role to play in my later life. I felt like I was important again and relied upon. I met some fantastic people, made friends for life and really enjoyed being a part of helping people like myself."

She continued, "I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I would encourage anybody, of any age, who is thinking about volunteering to just do it. You will not regret it and may find yourself taking huge strides towards a better you, whilst helping older people in the local community."

If you are feeling inspired by this story, why not give volunteering a go? We are always looking for volunteers and are hugely grateful for any amount of free time you can give. We offer a selection of roles across our services, activities and retail.
