What do Wellbeing Support Volunteers do?

The Wellbeing Support Volunteer's role involves visiting clients in their homes, in the community or speaking to them on the telephone.

The Wellbeing Service support will be time limited with the aim of supporting a client to find and ultimately attend social activities in their area. The volunteer will support the client to find suitable transport to their chosen activity and support them to access and use this transport.

About the Wellbeing Service

The Wellbeing Service aims to improve clients' quality of life and wellbeing and help them to maintain their independence. With the support of a volunteer we aim to enable someone to reconnect with community-based opportunities for social engagement. The volunteer will help the client work towards specific goals and outcomes identified by the older person.

When can I do this?

This role is flexible and can be undertaken on weekdays or at the weekend.

What time commitment is expected?

The time commitment is flexible depending on the support needed and the time the volunteer has available. When supporting a client we would like volunteers to be able to give a couple of hours a week.

What are the practical considerations?

You must be over 18 & be prepared to undertake the training requirements. You must be prepared for us to apply for a DBS check on your behalf.

Sometimes, the relationship with the client may be challenging due to their needs and circumstances and so we hope that you will be realistic about what can be achieved.

That you always maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries, and adhere to Age Uk Wiltshire’s policies and procedures.
