JOB PURPOSE:

We are expanding our Wellbeing Checks with Meals service to provide a daily lunchtime delivery of a heated meal to the homes of older people, helping to improve their nutrition, welfare and independence whilst also giving them a point of contact to the wider range of charitable services provided by Age UK Southampton and Age UK Wiltshire.

The role of the customer facing driver is to plan, process and deliver heated meals to older customers living in their own homes in the community.  This needs to be undertaken in an efficient and timely manner, with empathy, understanding and communication with our customers to ensure the service reflects the values of Age UK Southampton and Age UK Wiltshire.  The driver will also be responsible for data and information capture, processing and application to enable effective teamwork and communication. 

You would be required to work from our base in Southampton using an Age UK Southampton car to collect prepared meals & deliver them to clients living across the county Southampton and South Wiltshire.

The employment being offered in this role is a casual zero-hours contract, but the Wellbeing Checks with Meals team work agreed regular weekly shifts.

This is a 7-day service and so shift patterns for this role could be for any day of the week, shifts tend be between 3.5 and 5 hours and hours are between 10am and 3pm, this role will require weekend working, this is non negotiable, if you cannot or do not want to work weekends, this role is not right for you.

You will be provided with the training, support and resources, including the use of a fully expensed Age UK Southampton car, to fulfil this important service.

The main duties will be:

  • Customer meal delivery
  • Customer order preparation
  • Food hygiene and data recording
  • Lone working

Licence/Certification:

  • A full UK manual driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points and no prior driving ban.
