We’re thrilled to announce that the Big Knit is back, and we need your help to create 66,000 tiny woolly hats. That’s right—we’re calling on all crafters (and aspiring crafters) in West Sussex, Brighton & Hove to pick up your knitting needles and crochet hooks for a great cause.

Every hat you knit, whether it’s a bit wonky or absolutely perfect, raises 30p for Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove. These funds go directly toward providing essential services and support to older people in our community - so every stitch truly counts.

The campaign kicks off in October, and we have until June to collect as many hats as possible. We’ll provide patterns to guide you, so don’t worry if you’re new to knitting. And if you’re a seasoned pro, we can’t wait to see your creations.

Jean's Story - Knitting For A Cause

Jean from Rustington is taking part in The Big Knit for Age UK West Sussex Brighton & Hove. She loves knitting little hats, especially on cold, grey days. It’s something that "keeps her going."

Recently, she joined a Knit and Natter group in her village, where she enjoys chatting and knitting with others. She’s even inspired her neighbours and friends to get involved and they are hoping to knit hundreds of hats.

Jean also works on the hats with her daughter, Melanie, who helps by making the pom-poms that go on top.
