Money worries? We can help

Age UK Horsham District is urging older people with financial worries to call its helpline for advice, as Coronavirus restrictions continue to affect people’s income.

Expert advisors can help with information on a wide range of issues including money worries, welfare benefits, housing needs, social care and isolation.  In 2018/19 alone, the benefits advice given by the charity supported people to claim more than £815,000 in extra benefits.

Simon Dowe, Interim Chief Executive at Age UK Horsham District said “Many older people across Horsham are experiencing loneliness and isolation during lockdown, but also have huge concerns about money. With some losing their only source of income, they are wondering how to pay for essentials and how long the situation will last. Anyone over 50 with money worries can give us a ring. They may even find they are entitled to benefits they weren’t aware of.  Expert support is just a phone call away.”

The Age UK Horsham District information and advice team can help with the queries above and also issues like finding help at home, care planning, finding leisure and social activities, advice for carers, family and personal matters and most things that affect quality of life.

Age UK Horsham District has quickly adapted the way it works in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. As well as information and advice, the charity is also offering doorstep deliveries, emergency welfare and safety support for the most vulnerable, telephone befriending and wellbeing advice.
