BBC Politics London visits Age UK Wandsworth at the Gwynneth Morgan Day Centre
On Wednesday 11th September 2024 BBC Politics London came to visit our Day Centre Clients and weekly Coffee Morning attendees.
They were interested to hear our views on the recent cuts to the Winter Fuel allowance and spoke to Sonia, a client of our Day Centre, Jean and Jackie, who regularly attend our weekly Coffee Mornings and our Chief Executive, Natalie de Silva.

We're particularly worried about:
- Those on low incomes who just miss out on Pension Credit.
- Those who have unavoidably high energy needs because of disability and/or illness.
- The 1 million people who don't receive Pension Credit even though they're eligible for it.
If you are a Wandsworth resident and require free and confidential information and advice on benefits, money, social care and housing and local services for people over 60 and their carers, please contact Age UK Wandsworth for information and advice. Appointments are held in person in our office, over the phone or by email, as well as home visits.
Age UK National strongly oppose the cut to the Winter Fuel Payment that means only those receiving Pension Credit or other means-tested benefits will receive it. They believe that this will leave millions of struggling pensioners without the money they rely on.
If you would like to sign their online petition against the cuts to Winter Fuel payments, please follow the link here:
You can also check if you're eligible for Pension Credit and find out how to apply here.
