Thank you to all of our amazing Volunteers
As Volunteering Services Manager here at Age UK Wakefield District, I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our 258 volunteers, that week after week offer their time, their skills, their patience and understanding, their passion and dedication, to help support older people across the Wakefield District. From Befrienders to Retail Volunteers, Time for Tea Volunteers to Administration Volunteers, we really couldn't do the things we do, and support as many people as we do without the help of this fabulous team of people.
People volunteer with us for so many different reasons, to get involved with the community, to give something back, to make new friends, to learn and develop new skills and to maintain existing skills. If you are looking for a way to get involved with volunteering, get in touch and we will help you find your perfect role, you only need an hour a week!

"I started volunteering with Age UK WD 5 years ago, and I have never looked back, I wanted to give a little back to my local community and needed something to help fill my time after retiring, I can't see a time now when I will stop doing this, I have made lots of new friends from attending the Volunteer Drop In Sessions, I have made new friends with the people that I support, and I feel like I am helping people and making people smile. It has really been a game changer for me getting involved with the organisation, and the best thing is I can do as much or as little as I want, I can become involved in new projects, try my hand at new things, I would recommend this to anyone" - David Befriender
