Wellbeing volunteer

Age UK Torbay and Brixham Does Care are working together to support the Ageing Well Torbay Programme, alongside the NHS and many other Organisations.

Wellbeing Torbay is a service that works with people over the age of 50 who are lonely and isolated and possibly living with a health condition.

Wellbeing Torbay Volunteer.

Wellbeing Torbay is part of Ageing Well Torbay funded by the lottery. We are supporting people over the age of fifty who are feeling lonely and/or isolated to make the most of their lives, to the best of their abilities.

Since we started in July 2016, we have received over 550 referrals of people and the majority have said we are already making a positive difference to their lives.

• To work closely with our Wellbeing Coordinators to ensure support provided is meaningful and appropriate for each individual
• To support people to be active in managing their own wellbeing
• Enabling people to reduce their loneliness and/or isolation

This role is very varied and we are looking for people with many different skills to help us. For example: escorting people to and from social activities, befriending and acting as a buddy for people at new ventures.

At the heart of all our work is a commitment and understanding to support people to make the most of their lives, to best of their ability.
There will be an induction programme, and support from the team.

• To be able to give as little or as much time as you can
• Have an open-minded approach, avoiding judgement and stereotyping.
• To listen, have a positive outlook
• Have a willingness to learn.
• Flexibility (Monday – Friday)
• Understand the need for confidentiality.
• Be able to work as part of a team and to work with Age UK Torbay staff and volunteers and other agencies.
• CRB Check required, Expenses Paid.

This role is across Torbay within people’s homes and the wider community.
