What will I gain from volunteering?

Different people get different things from volunteering:

Gaining new skills and experience - there are all kinds of opportunities for you to gain new experience, meet new people and share knowledge.

Good fun and great company - people like you can use your skills and energy to brighten up the lives of older people. You can bring so much pleasure to lives of older people.

Rewarding - your time is valuable how much or little time you can offer you can be assured that you are making a positive difference.

Volunteering is not only about caring for frail elderly people.

Just look at the number of ways you can help:

  • visitor
  • befriender
  • fundraiser
  • advice worker
  • administrator
  • campaigner
  • trustee
  • trainer
  • wellbeing

Will I be able to choose what I do?

Will I get support?

Support for volunteers is as important to us as providing quality services. You will receive the support you need to carry out the tasks you undertake.

Will I be able to give enough time? Do I have to commit to the same time every week?

We will tailor your commitment to suit the time you have available. You need give only the time you can spare.

I can't afford to be out of pocket...

Although you won't be paid, we will do our best to meet your necessary expenses, and make sure you are not out of pocket.
