Intergenerational Project wins a 'Heart of the Community' award

Age UK Thanet are delighted to announce that our Intergenerational Project won a second place cash prize of £3000 in the Heart of the Community Awards with the Isle of Thanet Gazette. 

The winner was 'Luke’s Legacy', a young man who unfortunately passed away at the age of 26 years, fighting the battle of Cancer he raised over £26,000.00 for the Pilgrims Hospice and his legacy lives on with friends and family continuing his great work.

The Intergenerational project team have made the project a great success, the project is vibrant, ever changing to the needs of the participants and on a weekly basis engages with over 80 people old and young.

This award is recognition to all who have belief in this project which has a massive impact on people’s lives, it provides the participants with a sense of belonging, and support when it is most needed. The social value cannot be measured but the impact is enormous.

Of course this is the second award not forgetting ‘Sunshine Saturdays’ recently winning the Kent Dementia Awards.
