About us
We're a local charity working in the community to support older people, their families and carers. We want everyone to be able to love later life.
Who we are
Age UK Tameside is an independent local charity. We work in the local community to help older people remain independent and well. We have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers helping us to deliver services and activities for older people in Tameside.
Where you can find us
Our main office and 131 Club is based Katherine Street in Ashton-under-Lyne.
How we are funded
We rely on your support to keep serving the community. We are supported by donations from the public and some charitable grants.
What we do
-
We give advice
Our trained advisors offer free information and advice to older people and their families. In 2017 our advisers helped local older people to claim over £800,000 that they were entitled to.
-
We offer help in the community
We help older people who have recently had a long stay in hospital, an illness, fall or bereavement to regain their cofidence and independence.
-
We have fun
Clients attending our 131 Club have fun in the company of others, enjoying fun activities and delicious food.
-
We help people stay active
Our Step Up Falls Prevention programme has a range of sessions across Tameside to help older people stay active.
