Over 750 people gathered together at Guildford Cathedral to celebrate Christmas at Age UK Surrey’s Carol Service yesterday (20th December).
The event, which was led by the Dean The Very Reverend Dianna Gwilliams from Guildford Cathedral, was a mix of traditional Christmas Carols and readings. The Guildford Cathedral Singers and the Rock Choir entertained the audience with songs and music. Dignitaries and Mayors from across the County attended, including the Lord Lieutenant and the High Sheriff of Surrey.
Sue Zirps, Age UK Surrey’s Chief Executive Officer said “Our Carol Service at Guildford Cathedral is always such a delightful event and very well supported. The Carol Service in the morning suits many older people and lets us celebrate this special time of year together. Many older people are on their own at Christmas, so this Service is especially for them too. Our thanks go to the Guildford Cathedral, the Cathedral Singers, the Rock Choir and the Cathedral Organist as well as our sponsors which means we could provide free refreshments and mince pies too. A big thank you to all the volunteers who help make this free event run smoothly.”
