Our Christmas Carol Service

Published on 20 December 2024 11:51 AM

Our annual Carol Service at Guildford Cathedral on Thursday 19th December was truly a special occasion.  Hundreds of people attended, including Mayors across the County, and enjoyed the performances from the Guildford Cathedral Singers, Rock Choir with Sam Smith conducting, Organist George Baldwin and Tormead Prep School choir. A big thank you to all of them for their amazing performances.

A special thank you to the Mayor of Guildford - Cllr Sallie Barker, Mayor of Woking - Cllr Louise Morales, Mayor & Mayoress of Elmbridge - Cllr Neil Houston & Mrs Veronica Houston and to the Accompanying Vice Lord-Lieutenant

Our thanks too to Catherine Hodgson CEO of Age UK Surrey, Hon Lavinia Sealy DL, President of Age UK Surrey, Joy Allen Chair of the Board of Trustees for supporting and attending the event.

As always with a big event like this we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the support of our amazing volunteers. Our many thanks go to all the volunteers from SCC NW Social Care Team, Surrey Masons (directing in the car park) and staff (as well as friends and family of staff) of Age UK Surrey who ensured that the event ran smoothly.

We are grateful to our sponsors; Headline Design & Print for once again printing the Order of Service.  Thank you to Godalming Funeral Service and Radfield Care for their sponsorship which covered costs that included First Aiders from St John’s Ambulance, mince pies, cathedral costs, including organist fees, and suspending car parking charges.  All of which helped to keep the event free of charge.

A big thank you to the Venerable Stuart Beake, The Acting Dean of Guildford, and to everyone at Guildford Cathedral – a truly magnificent setting for our annual carol service.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended and has supported us this year. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025.
