As the new film Finding Your Feet is released nationwide on Friday 23 February, Age UK Sunderland is encouraging older people in the local area to follow the cast’s lead and try something new.
Delving into a range of topics, including loneliness, bereavement, health and keeping active, the film tells the moving story of how lead character Sandra (approaching her 60th birthday), played by Imelda Staunton CBE, transforms her life and faces the highs and lows that can come with getting older.
The modern, uplifting comedy shines a light on challenges often faced in later life whilst also proving that it’s never too late to start again.
Older people in Sunderland looking to try something new need look no further than Age UK Sunderland, which offers a range of classes and activities perfect for those that want to discover new interests, make new friends and get active via our ActivAge Programme.
Like the film, Age UK Sunderland runs Line Dance classes, as well as Tai Chi, Yoga, Calligraphy, Crystal Healing, IT classes, Pilates and much more!
Director of Age UK Sunderland Tracy Collins said: “As Finding Your Feet hits cinemas across the country, we are hoping to inspire the people of Sunderland and show them it’s never too late to take up a new hobby or meet new people.
