International Day of Older Persons

1st October, is International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) and the start of the World Health Organization Decade of Healthy Ageing 2020-2030. This year the campaign will be mainly online and via social media.
As part of this the Greater Manchester Ageing Narrative Campaign aims to highlight older people –
- have played a key role in society in response to coronavirus,
- are not one homogenous group, and have had different and varied experiences of coronavirus and lockdown,
- have a key role to play in our recovery, including as workers, volunteers and unpaid carers, consumers, neighbours and citizens,
- We need to ensure older people’s views are heard and shared,
- Have been negatively impacted by coronavirus.
Working with GM Age Friendly, Stockport CCG, Viaduct, and Stockport Council we will be highlighting older people throughout October and will be tweeting and retweeting throughout October through our Twitter account https://twitter.com/ageukstockport
Look out for various social media during October and help retweet #ValuableNotVulnerable
