Every day, in so many ways, our Day Opportunities volunteers give their time and effort to make an incredible difference for older people. Without them, we couldn't be here when we're needed most.

Can you help in Cheslyn Hay, Cannock, Tamworth or Hinksford Park?

A little bit of your time goes a long way...

When clients come through the door at one of our day centres, it's your time to shine.

Being a Day Opportunities Volunteer puts you right at the front line of our charity. You will interact with older people and help to make their time with us feel extra special. You will help our clients to feel comfortable, supported and familiar with being at Day Opportunities, and as a Volunteer you will add the magic 'spark' that makes our support so personal.

You'll help us to run a wide range of fun, safe and engaging activities such as as gardening, arts & crafts and games, in addition to serving tea, coffee and refreshments.

Our clients come to Day Opportunities from all areas of Staffordshire. Some have dementia and other complex needs, so if you have experience working in this kind of environment then that's a real bonus - but if not then don't worry, we provide induction and training to our volunteers to make sure you're confident in everything you do.

If you're the kind of person who thrives on being around people, making a difference and spreading joy through your warm and friendly personality - we want to hear from you!

What you will get out of it

  • A great sense of satisfaction, enjoy interacting with older people
  • Do something different and socialise, enjoy meeting our staff and other volunteers
  • Give something back to your community
  • Part of a dedicated volunteer team
  • Full training and support in aspects such as safeguarding, food safety and emergency first aid
  • Volunteers tell us they find it really rewarding to help older people who have complex needs
