The Trustee Boards of Age UK Folkestone and Age Concern Deal have agreed to merge to form a single charity across the Deal, Dover and Folkestone Districts that is better equipped to meet the growing needs of older people in the area.
Chief Executive, Debbie Barry said,
“Our stakeholders have viewed this as a positive experience. The merger takes place with effect from the 1st July 2020, bringing together two busy, vibrant and flourishing charities that by being together makes us even stronger to meet the challenges of the future. The merger will enable us to continue to reduce our operational costs and channel more resources into direct support for older people.”
“The scope for sharing our expertise and expanding across the geographical boundaries means we will reach more people.”
“Our increasing ageing population faces a complex range of needs, with health and social care service struggling to meet the demand. A strong and sustainable Age UK operating across Dover & Folkestone will be a key partner in supporting and enabling older people to enjoy later life.”
