Activity Day Centre Volunteering
As an Activity Day Centre Volunteer, you could provide company and support for the older people at one of our centres located across South Gloucestershire.
What happens at an Activity Day Centre?
The Activity Day Centre service offers door-to-door accompanied transport to a choice of locations serving much of South Gloucestershire for anyone over the age of 50.
A typical day contains opportunities for a variety of activities. Past activities have included singing workshops, Tai-Chi, quizzes, exercises, art & craft, Nintendo Wii games, knitting, memory boxes and entertainment, as well as times of quiet conversation and one-to-one support. The Activity Day Centres provide tailored activities to meet the individual needs of each of its service users, so activities are as varied as those who attend.
What do our volunteers do?
They encourage the people attending the Day Centre to make the best of their day. This can include encouraging them to take part in an activity, exercise class or day trip. Some of our current Day Centre volunteers also enjoy sharing their hobbies and interests. One such volunteer is Danny, who shares his love of music by playing the guitar and leading singing sessions.
When can I volunteer?
It depends on which centre you want to volunteer at; they each have set days and times that they run. Please get in contact for more information on our current venues.
