As an independent local charity working in Somerset and North Somerset, our ‘Ageing Well’ service is dedicated to promoting the health and wellbeing of older people in our area.
Exercise is vital for older people, not only to improve or maintain all components of fitness but also to reduce the effect of age-related decline, help maintain independent living and reduce isolation. Group exercise offers this valuable social aspect and we are proud to provide over 150 weekly classes covering a range of activities.
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated Ageing Well Team.
Ageing Well Co-ordinator - North Somerset
Contract: Fixed Term - 6 months (with a positive expectation of an extension, subject to funding)
Hours: 14 hours per week
Location: Home based
Salary: £19,852 p.a. FTE (£7,940 actual)
Do you have an enthusiasm for exercise and enjoy working within the fitness field?
Our Ageing Well service is dedicated to promoting the health and wellbeing of older people in our area. As Co-ordinator, you will help support and develop our Ageing Well activities across North Somerset, working closely with the rest of the team that covers Somerset and North Somerset.
Monitoring and improving class attendance levels, engaging with the community to explore the potential for new classes and developing partnerships will be a fundamental part of the role. The successful candidate will also use their excellent interpersonal and communication skills in overseeing our instructors and volunteers, as well as giving talks that encourage and inspire people to try physical activity, whether they are 55 or 95!
The postholder is responsible for their own administration and will therefore be competent in MS Office with an ability to use our database. A teaching qualification in exercise/physical activity is essential and experience in developing a project/service would be an advantage.

Ageing Well Marketing & Communications Co-ordinator
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 18.5 hours per week
Location: Taunton (hybrid working considered)
Salary: £19,852 p.a. FTE (£10,493 actual)
Do you have a background in marketing, with proven experience in generating local publicity?
Working closely with the Ageing Well and Falls Prevention Service Managers, you will play an integral role in identifying areas for promotion, lead on writing targeted press releases/articles and producing newsletters. You will also work alongside our Marketing & Communications team for the promotion of these two services in social media and on our website.
You will therefore possess a talent for creative writing, with excellent written communication skills, combined with an intermediate working knowledge of MS Office that includes both PowerPoint and Publisher. An ability to build relationships with local media and other organisations will be important.
A PR/Marketing/Digital qualification, creative writing training and experience in a similar role will be an advantage.
