Macc Care home, Blossomfield Rose Care Home has been raising funds for local Age UK Solihull.
The care home, on Blossomfield Road, hosted an Easter Fun Day on Sunday 2 April. It was a huge success, with over 200 people of all ages attending. The day included an Easter egg hunt, a magician entertainer, face painting, chick handling, refreshments, Easter crafts and games, a movie in the home’s cinema room, and an Easter bonnet competition, which was judged by two of the home’s residents.
The event raised over £970 for Age UK Solihull, which we are delighted with.
The following week, Blossomfield Rose’s Operations Manager, Sonia Tenniswood, raised even more funds by completing a tandem skydive at Hinton Skydiving Centre in Brackley, Northamptonshire. Sonia raised £515 in donations, which was generously matched by Macc Care, bringing her fundraising total to £1,030.
Sonia enjoyed the experience so much that she is going to do the training to do a solo skydive. She said, “It was the most thrilling experience and I urge everyone to do it. All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage and you won’t look back.”
Sonia’s skydive took place on Friday 7 April, which was the 101st birthday of one of Blossomfield Rose’s residents, Margaret. Margaret’s wish, should she reach 101 years was to do a skydive herself, so the care home’s team arranged for Sonia’s dive to be dedicated to Margaret and videoed so Margaret could experience it alongside her. Margaret said, “I absolutely loved watching Sonia’s dive and appreciated the 101 symbols for my special milestone birthday.”
The funds raised from the Easter Fun Day and the skydive come to just over £2,000 in total. This significant sum will help us to provide our vital services for older and vulnerable Solihull residents.
Our Digital Marketing and Fundraising Manager, Rebecca Jacob, says, “We are so grateful for the support of the team at Blossomfield Rose. The Easter Fun Day was absolutely fantastic - we are very lucky that Blossomfield Rose offered their beautiful venue and catering and organized some wonderful activities. We received many comments from families about how much they enjoyed the day.
“I’m so pleased that Sonia enjoyed her skydive, and Margaret enjoyed watching it from the home. Well done for raising an incredible sum and thank you to Macc Care for matching it. As a local charity, £2,000 will go a long way to helping us to provide advice, support and companionship for Solihull residents when they need us most.”
