Local knitters have jumped into Age UK Solihull’s 15th Big Knit campaign, with novelty designs and wonderful creations. An outstanding 4,681 little bobble hats have been knitted so far, meaning the charity is already halfway to their target of 9,327 knitted creations for this year.
The Big Knit campaign is a partnership between Age UK and Innocent drinks. Anyone can get involved, novice or professional, and the task is to knit little bobble hats to decorate the top of Innocent smoothie bottles, which will be sent to supermarkets and stores in October 2019. Age UK Solihull will receive 25p per hat submitted, meaning a potential £2,331.75 being raised if the target is met. All money raised stays in the borough to help Age UK Solihull support older people with the challenges faced in later life.
Thanks to the hard work of its supporters, Age UK Solihull is already half way to their target, but need you to dig out those knitting needles and continue to help them on their way to smashing this year’s target. The first deadline to submit your hats is Wednesday 9 January, but don’t worry, they can still accept hats after this date, as there’s a second deadline later in the Spring.
Fundraising Manager at Age UK Solihull, Lorraine Hart, said, “We are overwhelmed with the donation of hats from all of our knitters and it is lovely to see the hard work that has gone into the wonderful designs. We look forward to receiving many more of the cute creations and are hoping to reach our target of 9,327.”
