Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s dementia support group in Bishop’s Castle now provides additional support for carers.

The Bishop’s Castle dementia support group continues to offer high-quality support for people with dementia and memory difficulties and now provides enhanced support for their carers.

Since January, the group has been working closely with external organisations such as Alzheimer’s Society, the Admiral Nurse service and Shropshire Carers Support, to strengthen the support and resources available for both clients and carers. Carers will have the opportunity to engage with these organisations while their loved ones receive support in a safe and welcoming environment.

One carer shared: “The best part is meeting like-minded people who understand and seeing my husband interacting with the members and activities.”

Emma Wilde, Wellbeing Services Manager at Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin said: “It’s so exciting to be working with other agencies to be able provide extra help, as we know, information and support is a crucial part of supporting carers and helping people with dementia to live well.”

The group takes place every month at the Grange Road Community Centre in Bishop’s Castle. To book your place at the next meeting or to find out more about our dementia support groups, call Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin on 01743 233 123 or email enquiries@ageukstw.org.uk
