Local eatery, The Meatball Shack is proud to announce a new partnership with Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, offering free meals and a warm welcome as part of an initiative to support older people in the community.
From Wednesday 26 March, The Meatball Shack in Battlefield, Shrewsbury will be giving away 10 free bowls of its comforting Piccole Meatball Soup with fresh bread to the first 10 customers through the door every Wednesday to Sunday from 12 noon. In return, guests are invited to make a voluntary donation with no minimum amount to Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin. A donation box will be placed at the bar.
The campaign is the brainchild of husband-and-wife team Gee and Max, who run the restaurant.
“We believe life is more beautiful when we give back,” said Gee. “This isn’t just about soup it’s about creating a space where people feel welcome and valued, especially those who might be feeling a bit lonely or disconnected.”
“There’s something really special about sharing food, it brings people together,” added Max. “If our little corner of Shrewsbury can brighten someone’s day and support a brilliant local charity, we’re all for it.”
All donations will go towards strengthening Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s vital services providing support to thousands of local older people every year who struggle with feelings of loneliness and isolation.
The promotion will be shared across The Meatball Shack’s social media channels, and the team is encouraging locals to come along, enjoy a bowl, and help make a difference one meal at a time.
As the charity celebrates 75 years of supporting local older people, Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is looking to build new partnerships with local businesses. If you’re a company interested in supporting older people in your community, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
