To mark Volunteers’ Week this year, we’ve been interviewing some of our wonderful volunteers to find out more about why they volunteer for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.

Today we’re meeting Libby, a volunteer day centre organiser:

‘When I finished work as a Home Support Worker for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, I knew I wanted to volunteer but not sure where.’

‘I spent a year volunteering in the Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin reception team and learned a great deal about the different services.’

‘I really liked the sound of the day centres, I visited a couple and am now a day centre organiser.’

‘I have 14 members and a great team of volunteers. I like to think we provide a safe, happy, fun and entertaining environment, a hot lunch, tea, cake and sherry!’

‘Most of the members live alone, so for some this is the only social interaction they have. I feel I make a difference and it is comforting to know I have great support from Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.’

Volunteers’ Week is an opportunity to celebrate volunteers and to thank them for the amazing work they do. If you’d like to find out more about volunteering for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, call us on 01743 233 123 or email volunteering@ageukstw.org.uk
