Dunelm, the UK’s leading homewares retailer, and Age UK have agreed a three-year partnership to raise £2 million to help create communities that feel like home for older people, by combatting loneliness and providing more practical support over the phone and in local communities.

Every penny raised will go towards practical support to help older people in their homes and communities, information, advice and friendship delivered over the phone across the country.

What does that mean for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin?

Because the partnership is with the national charity, our Income Generation team are now starting to approach our local stores in Shrewsbury and Telford to start generating interest and support for us on a local level. This will include promoting all of the services we provide, recruit volunteers and raise funds to directly support older people in our county.

Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, Heather Osborne said: ‘It’s an exciting opportunity to be able to work with our local Dunelm shops not only to raise money for vital local support for older people, but to also make the most of Dunelm’s influence to raise awareness amongst the public of the issues faced by older people in our community.’
