Members of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s Coffee and Crafting Club have donated a beautiful multi-coloured knitted blanket to the Severn Hospice in Telford.
The blanket was the first creative project taken on by the recently formed group. ‘All members initially knitted the squares at the third class that was held, and then took the rest home as homework,’ said Claire Fishlock, Service Development Officer at Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.
‘They all then came together a few weeks ago to sew it all up and create this amazingly colourful blanket that just makes everybody smile. It’s just stunning! There is a heart attached to some squares with the initials on of all those involved, plus handmade flowers. One of our new members embroidered the middle section with a message from the group. So this is now being donated to the wonderful Severn Hospice.’
‘The group has also created a smaller blanket from what was left over, and we will be donating this one to the St George’s Parish where we hold the class. The members are rightly proud of what they’ve achieved.’
The Coffee and Crafting Club meets on the second Tuesday morning of each month at The Parish Centre in St Georges, and is funded by Safer and Stronger, the Telford community support initiative.
