Christmas coffee morning coming soon

The Telford Hotel will be plating up the mince pies and cranking up the festive spirit in a few weeks’ time to stage a Christmas coffee morning for local older people.
The event, in support of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, will be held at The Telford Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, and older people are encouraged to pop by for a warm welcome and little seasonal refreshment, free of charge.
‘Directly after the festive refreshments we’re going to have a drop-in information event with our team on hand to answer any questions, specifically about our wonderful befriending services and our much-appreciated volunteer-driven groups, activities and day centres that bring so much joy to so many older people across Shropshire,’ said Angela Goodman, from Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s Fundraising team.
‘Our volunteers love what they do, telling us their roles are both fun and rewarding. We’re always on the lookout for new volunteers to join the team. We currently have many people waiting to be matched with a befriender or a telephone buddy, so we’re particularly keen to hear from people who’d like to do that.’
The event will take place on Thursday 5 December, with the coffee morning running 10.00am to 12.00pm and the information drop-in continuing until 2.00pm.
The hotel will also be holding their festive sock appeal again, which sees their staff donate brand new pairs of seasonal (and sometimes silly) socks, which will later be given to older people as little gifts.
