One year on

It’s been a year since Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin moved into new offices at Bellstone and relocating to a busy part of Shrewsbury town centre has brought many benefits.
‘Being in our wonderful new office in what is a really busy area of the town centre means we are much more visible to the public than we were in our previous building and so we get a lot more people popping in to find out about what we do,’ said Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin’s Chief Executive, Heather Osborne.
‘It’s a bright and airy space with a very welcoming reception area where people can be sure of a friendly welcome. Also, our huge windows facing out onto the busy pavements provide us with a great opportunity to display our eye-catching posters, promoting our many services and appealing for new volunteers.’
The Bellstone offices also proved an excellent venue in which to celebrate Volunteers Week with a special open day on 7 June. This highly successful event attracted many visitors, coming in for a chat to either find out more about the organisation or to offer their services as volunteers.
The reception area was decorated with colourful balloons while visitors enjoyed tea and cakes and a friendly welcome. A dozen people joined us as volunteers that day.
‘The open day went really well,’ said Heather, ‘and no doubt we will be hosting more events like this at our super new offices.’
