Telford’s Denso Manufacturing UK (DMUK) has been a corporate supporter of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin since 2018 and during that time the company and its associates have donated over £11,000 to help local older people.

The partnership, which is now coming to a close, saw staff raising funds to support services for vulnerable older people and donating their time to volunteer at events.

Most recently, Simon Cope and Matt Price from DMUK trained for a marathon in Blackpool but due to COVID the pair had to change plans and run their own marathon in April which started and finished at DMUK in Hortonwood, Telford. Thanks to an extra donation from DMUK, the pair raised an amazing £2,600 to help older people in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: ‘We are very grateful to have worked with the associates at Denso. We thank them for all their hard work and dedication to support older people in Telford and they will be greatly missed by all of us at Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin.’

During the pandemic our dementia support groups were unable to meet with staff and volunteers, keeping in touch by phone or on Zoom where possible. Now as restrictions are eased, we are able to resume the groups and the funds raised by DMUK will support their reopening.

Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin offers a wide range of services to improve the quality of later life. If you work for a company that would like to help us support local older people, call us 01743 233 123 or email enquiries@ageukstw.org.uk
