Shrewsbury charity shop closure

The Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin charity furniture shop in the Riverside Mall in Shrewsbury will be closing on Saturday 31 August.
It is with regret that the trustees made the decision to close our shop in Shrewsbury due to the reduced footfall in the shopping centre, which had an adverse effect on sales.
The profits generated from the sale of second hand furniture over the past four years helped to fund our Information & Advice service in Shrewsbury, which generated over £3 million in additional benefits for older people last year.
Our charity furniture shops in Wellington and Oswestry are both very successful, and will continue to grow, generating funds to support our services in Shropshire.
Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we made the decision to close our furniture shop in Shrewsbury. The staff and volunteers have worked so hard and I want to thank them for their dedication over the past four years, we could not have done it without them. I am pleased to say our furniture shops in Wellington and Oswestry continue to be profitable and we will support their development over the coming years.’
If you would like to donate your unwanted furniture to help older people in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin, please get in touch with Rose Morris at our Oswestry shop on 01691 238 020, or Paula Hinks at our Wellington shop on 01952 872 020.
